The Direct Project is an open source, volunteer-driven project that works with organizations throughout healthcare IT to build consensus for standards and specifications related to secure universal health messaging for potential inclusion in the Nationwide Health Information Network.

The Direct Project community is working hard to quickly build two reference implementation stacks (Java and .Net), and now is a great time for developers to get involved and to build tight links with the CONNECT product and community.

Members of the Direct Project community interested in participating in this working session should register directly for the CONNECT Code-A-Thon event. The Direct Project attendees will participate in the introductory and wrap-up sessions for the Code-A-Thon, and during the work sessions, they will break out into a Direct-focused session.
