On May 21, the Federal Health Architecture will host the first CONNECT User Group Meeting at George Washington University's Marvin Center. Attendees can expect a day of networking and collaborating with CONNECT adopters and health IT professionals about CONNECT and how it is being used throughout the public and private sectors. 

This one-day event will:

  • Provide discussions for those new to CONNECT to understand its use cases and role in secure health information exchange
  • Allow organizations to educate each other on how each integrates CONNECT into their IT environments or HIE products
  • Engage the community in brainstorming sessions that discuss the best ways to bring new software engineers into CONNECT open source development
  • Provide a venue for the CONNECT community to learn about and contribute to the CONNECT product roadmap
  • Drive a deeper understanding of the CONNECT 4 architecture and features, including the recent addition...

For the first time, the CONNECT Team will demo CONNECT 4.0 at the HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition. At this event next week (March 3-7) in New Orleans, the team will be participating with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) in the Interoperability Showcase. The demo will show how CONNECT supports interoperability through a series of exchange activities using whichever standards are currently being used by organizations and agencies participating in ONC’s Interoperability Showcase area .

With 50 individual kiosks representing 27 demonstrations, this year's showcase will be the largest yet for ONC! Find out more about what will be featured in this space on the ONC website.

CONNECT 4.0, the dynamic, open source platform designed to enable health information exchange worldwide is here! This release of CONNECT will give users more flexiblity to exchange health information with trading partners, and allow them to fulfill core Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements related to secure email messaging through CONNECT 4.0's support of Direct specifications.

As we move into 2013, the administration and management of electronic health records will continue to be a top priority for public and private entities. For the Interagency Program Office’s (IPO) Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) Health Program Management Office, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology’s (ONC) VLER Support Team is supporting the office's implementation of CONNECT for the secure transmission and management of  health data for military service members.

CONNECT, the open source solution that provides a leading edge platform for health information exchange, is preparing for the release of version 4.0 in February 2013. This version of CONNECT has been a collaborative effort among public and private entities.  CONNECT 4.0 will include a wealth of exciting new features that will meet the various health IT needs existing today, and fulfill Meaningful Use 2 core objectives related to the secure electronic exchange of information through CONNECT's support of Direct Project specifications and Nationwide Health Information Network transports (i.e., electronically sending and receiving patient data, registering immunization information, public health reporting and patient access to data).
