Misys Open Source Solutions (“MOSS”) was created three years ago as a disruptive force in healthcare. MOSS recognized the woeful adoption of IT technology in the ambulatory space from its inception and made a commitment to reduce the cost and complexity of exchanging important patient information in communities. Instead of looking at interoperability as an expensive afterthought, MOSS has endeavoured to create open source interoperability solutions for Health Information Organizations (HIOs) that are needed to improve the chances for HIO success. MOSS has lead multiple community open source projects to create all standards based server components that an HIE needs to identify community patient uniquely, exchange documents, track and audit transactions. All these server side components are developed using IHE standards and also in support of the Nationwide Health Information Network.
